Finchley Farm is conveniently located 3 kilometres outside the Karoo town of Willowmore, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa on the Prince Albert Road. The beautifully restored farm cottage is located in the shady garden of the homestead. The cottage, dating back to the late 1800s, is fully equipped for self catering and tastefully furnished and decorated with numerous historic items which will without doubt be of interest to visitors. The geographic location of the Cottage makes it suitable for rustic accommodation for the visiting businessman or for the family that want to experience a Karoo Farm Stay and day to day life on a working Karoo farm. Barn Owl Farm is situated off the R62, about 15km from Ladismith in the Klein Karoo. Come for a weekend break and you will find plenty to do without having to even move off the farm. In Summer swim, canoe or fish in the dam down the road. Unfortunately due to the prolonged drought the dam is currently dry. In the cooler months, explore the veld on foot or on your mountain bike. Watch out for buck, hare and a large variety of bird life including the farm's name-sake barn owls. A longer stay will give you time to relax, enjoy the peace of the farm and perhaps head out on some day trips. Drive or cycle to Ladismith via the scenic Dwarsrivier road. Stop at Mymering on the way to do some wine tasting. Seweweekspoort, with its folded orange rock faces towering above the road is 30km beyond Ladismith and well worth a visit. Port tasting in Calitzdorp and even the Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn are within reach for longer days out. Return to Barn Owl Farm, soak off the dust of your travels and enjoy the spectacular star filled night far from the city lights.
